Sharing Christ’s Love in Creative Ways:
At Front Step of Philadelphia, we are always aware that the inner-city children that we minister to do not have access to the opportunities that many of us take for granted. Of course, it is not because of living in the City, but it is because of the poverty and lack of “disposable income” that limits their world. In contrast, by the time I was 8 years of age, I had already been in over 30 of the U.S. States because my parents were committed to educating their children by travelling and seeing first-hand what we read about in books. The families that we minister to in Philadelphia do not have that option—money is consumed by the basics: shelter, food and life’s necessities. One of the great joys of ministering at Front Step is taking our neighborhood kids on field trips. Some of those have included: state parks, farms and ranches, museums, swimming lessons, Lancaster’s Sight and Sound Theatre and summer camps. This past week we spent time with a lady who shared with us about her alligator, crocodile, insects, skunks, ferrets, opossum and boa constrictor snake! In fact the kids were able to touch or hold many of these animals and of course, they loved it! Our motivation is sharing the love and message of Jesus Christ. Our hope is to build life-long memories for these kids that although they may live in poverty, God loves them and provides people who consistently share the love of Jesus Christ—and that can be done in so many ways. Jesus said, “Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me.” Holland Bible Church, thank YOU for helping make it possible! Thank YOU for bestowing Christ’s love into young lives that we will see in heaven! Pastor Wes Tink
