Our Country Seems to be Becoming More and More Secular
Our country seems to be becoming more and more secular, depending more and more on our government institutions and drifting farther and farther away from our dependence on the One and Only god. Secularism never works, just look at past history, Hitler, Stalin etc. What I noticed most about this pandemic is the willingness of so many people to accept the fear and all the mandates our government put on us, closing certain businesses, shutting us up in our homes, even encouraging us to close our churches, a lot of which are still not fully open. What has happened to our strong independent free thinking that has made this country so great in the past. Even our Mainline Churches have been becoming more and more liberal trying to become more inclusive and tolerant, but at the same time drifting farther away from Biblical teachings. We here at Holland have often been at odds with our Presbytery for that very reason. Jesus did teach love and be tolerant, but He wasn't a pushover either, turning over the tables of the money changers in the temple and often rebuked and scolded his disciples. There are absolutes in the Bible and certain Biblical teachings that should not be ignored. I for one am glad to belong to Holland Bible Church where we have had the courage to keep our doors open support those absolutes in the Bible that others are ignoring and carry on our worship thur this pandemic. Bob W. And the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.”And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER’; but you are making it a ROBBERS’ DEN.” Matthew 21:11-13
