Welcome to May
In our memory, this has always been the most beautiful month in the year. In our ponderings, however, May is going to have to be extra special to be any more lovely than April has been this year. The flowering trees, the sudden change from drab to green, the warm sun between the cold rains… April was, in sum, a most pleasant month as winter became spring.
We now enter a very busy time of the year. Gardens are getting started, mowing enters our weekly routine, outdoor events are slipping into our calendar, school is winding down with graduations and parties for some; and, we’ve noticed, yard sale season is upon us.
We have just come from the Easter events and the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is easy to move on, now, to all the activities that entangle us within our physical surroundings, and to put this treasured news of our spiritual life behind us. Our busyness can consume all our energy and all our time.
We hope that you will remember that you call yourself a Christian. Your time and your energy are gifts from God. We hope that, if the call comes, you will take time out from your self-appointed tasks to help someone if called upon. We hope that you will remain pleasant and share some love to those around you, even when feeling the pressure of too much to do in too little time. We hope that, at the beginning and at the end of the day, you will leave time to pray. We’ll be enjoying the blessing of time and energy during this beautiful month of May. We hope that you will take time to smell the roses. Viginia “… "....everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man… the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires will pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:15-17
